As a self-insurance group formed under Minnesota Statute 79A, Greater Minnesota operates like a small insurance company whose members have each pledged their company assets against the performance of the group. Greater Minnesota, through its Board of Directors has selected partners and adopted strategies to achieve the highest quality results for its members. Partners include Mike Kane of Greater Insurance Service as fiscal agent, marketing/sales, and loss control coordinator and Mackinaw Administrators, LLC as third party administrator managing claims and providing risk control services.

Sharing of best practices for safety and loss control through an active claim/loss control committee composed of frontline employees of each member facility. Cost savings through aggressive return to work policies at each member facility, and through favorable pricing of in-facility medical services rendered to injured employees.

“The average experience modification factor for the members was 1.61 when we formed GMSIF.  Today the average experience modification factor for the members is .86 saving them thousands of dollars on their workers compensation premiums.”

The program is open to all Minnesota community and rural healthcare providers, you must go through Greater Insurance Service Agent Mike Kane.

“While we have seen steady premium decreases and stability in coverage, the main benefits we have from being a part of GMSIF are the peer sharing of best practices and the most comprehensive service we’ve ever had. These are the factors that have helped us strengthen our safety program, driving down our mod rate and truly improving our workplace safety record. This benefits employee morale and the bottom line. I highly recommend GMSIF to any healthcare organization interested in creating a safer workplace and reducing their work comp expense.”
